The Ambassadors Program

A fellowship for people building better relationships where they live.

Kinship Ambassadors are tenants repairing and strengthening their relationships with their landlords and their neighbors. We help them grow into responsibility, ownership, and clear communication, and we stand beside them when something needs to be worked out.

What the fellowship is

An Ambassador is a lead tenant who takes on a caretaking role for their home and their block. Through the fellowship, we support them in learning to communicate well, take ownership of shared spaces, and resolve the ordinary friction of living somewhere.

When issues come up, whether with neighbors, with the condition and upkeep of the property, or with housemates and subleasing, Ambassadors don't face them alone. We help them work things through.

What Kinship does here

Our role in the program is simple and bounded.

Tenant training

We teach the practical skills of caring for a home and living well with others, from basic upkeep to hard conversations.

Trust and transparency

We help make the relationship between tenants and owners clearer and more honest, so small things don't grow into big ones.

Relational repair

When a relationship has frayed, we help mend it, patiently and in good faith, on terms everyone can live with.

For landlords: what this means for you

The Ambassadors Program is about your tenants growing into better caretakers of your property. A few promises we want to be clear about:

  • We respect your existing relationship with your tenants. We're not here to insert ourselves between you.
  • We do not sell services to property owners through this program. There is nothing to buy.
  • If there's something you'd like from us, we're glad to help. That might be a hand with basic maintenance, or scheduling a training that teaches your tenants how to properly care for the home and handle simple, low-risk repairs.

Whatever would make your property easier to care for, just reach out and let us know.
